Interview with 2016 World Indoor 3000m Champion Yomif Kejelcha After his 2017 season opener in Doha DL Men’s 3000m.

At the opening meeting of the 2017 IAAF Diamond League series in Doha, Yomif Kejelcha competed in the men’s 3000m race. He ran a very quick time of 7:32.27 to placing 3rd overall. The winner of the race was Ronald Kwemoi of Kenya who clocked 7:28.73 to win the race, followed by Olympic 5000m silver medalist Paul Chelimo of USA who clocked 7:31.57 for 2nd.

Kejelcha was 5th in 2015 with a time of 7:39.99, and improved that by placing 3rd with a faster time in his first race of the season. When asked how he felt about the race, Kejelcha commented, “I made a mistake by making a move too early, but the race was easy. I can’t really say it was good or bad, since this was only after eight months of training. I made a simple mistake and I will fix it next time.”
