Ethiopia’s Mekonnen Runs the Fastest Half Marathon Debut in History|RAK Half Marathon 2018

Screen Shot 2018-02-09 at 7.44.53 AM.png Ethiopia’s Jemal Mekonnen becomes the fastest half marathon debutant in history, covering the distance in 59:00 at the RAK Half Marathon 2018. Mekonnen finished second overall behind half marathon stud, Bedan Karoki of Kenya, who won the race in a fast time of 58 minutes and 42 seconds and improving his previous personal best by a big margin.

Jemal’s 59:00 is now the third fastest Ethiopian in the half marathon behind the Great Haile Gebrselassie former World Record of 58:55 and Atsedu Tsegay’s current national record of 58:47.
